Sauvignon Blanc Origins and History

Sauvignon Blanc is a dry white wine that originated in France.  This green skinned grape used to produce Sauvignon Blanc wines gets its name from the French words savage meaning “wild” and blanc meaning “white”.  The Sauvignon Blanc grape produces a clean, crisp, refreshing dry varietal wine.  The Sauvignon Blanc grape is also used for making dessert wines.  Sauvignon Blanc wine can be slightly chilled and served with fish, cheeses, and sushi.  It is one of the only wines that is suitable to drink with sushi.  Sauvignon Blanc is a wine that is best served young and does not do as well when aged.  This wine is great for the experienced as well as the inexperienced palate.
